4 types of ethical reasoning: consequence: the greatest good for the greatest number. Public law: governs our relaionship with the government and with society as a whole. When a government legislates outside its authority, the law is ultra vires (beyond the power of) and the law has no force or efect (secion 52) Charter of rights and freedoms (part of consituion since 1982) Right to equality: prohibited grounds of discriminaion include race, sex, and religion, but not poverty.
