Itm chapter 7- telecommunications, the internet, and wireless. Telephone networks and computer networks converging into a single digital network using shared internet-based standards. Also designates a single communications medium that can transmit multiple channels of data simultaneously. More than 90%of canadian users have broadband access. Broadband wireless; voice, data communication are increasingly taking place over broadband wireless platforms. Computer network is two or more connected computers. Networking operating system (nos): routes and manages communications on the network and coordinates networked resources. Hubs: very simple devices that connect network components, sending a packet of data to all other connected devices. Switch: more intelligence than a hub, and can lter and forward data to a speci ed destination on the network. Router: communication processor used to route packets of data through different networks, ensuring that the data sent gets to the correct address.
