There are three ways to connect leadership with value and ethics: amoral leadership, values-based leadership, ethical leadership. Authenticity: being really what it seems to be; true to one"s own personality, spirit, or character. Both theories make no claim as to whether the leader and their outcomes are good or bad, but they recognize that a leader"s behaviour can alter others" reality. The canonical interpretation suffices without moral or value assumptions. Takes values as a central part of leadership. Argues that if one wishes to understand how the outcome emerged, then one must also understand the values of the leaders and followers. Emphasis is on the description of values and the causal role those values play in the determination of desired outcomes.
