Bird and waters- ethics highly technical discipline that requires an advanced degree to decipher, managers don"t see themselves as sufficiently qualified to use it. Particular choice of morals in business is optional, whether we have morals in business is not. Ethics- refers to our efforts to figure out what we should do and how we should live, how to justify our behaviour to ourselves and others. Socrates" examined life- a life of self-reflection about who we are, the way we live, and how we treat others (unexamined life doesn"t ask these questions) Genuine ethical dilemma involves a conflict of moral principles, while temptations do not. Ethical challenges are not those that pose right vs wrong choice. Three traditions in ethics: actions or means" people use to achieve their goals, agents or persons" who are acting in the situation, ends or goals" that are outcomes of actions. Whether act is ethically acceptable irrespective of the consequences it creates.
