Lots of discussion about the present and future without discussion about the past practices, need to know the roots of the field. Articles about the history of cyc tend to focus on the positives, the founding mothers and fathers, the strong methods and theories, without looking at the negatives. People don"t tend to look at the deep historical past of the field, which is strange considering that all other professions do this and highlight it; because we are a new field. How we greet youth initially has an impact on how they respond and how they will continue to respond throughout the relationship. There is no right way, but only an individualized way, depending on how you view the situation and the person in front of you.
