There is a belief that these individuals cannot be changed. Paraphilia: sexual interest in an activity that includes another person without their consent. Paraphilia or personality disorders may lead one to commit violent sexual assault against children. Often sexual offenders are simply punished and put in prison without treatment before being released back into the public.
