How to develop a psychological test. Test conceptualization: test conceptualization, review the literature and develop a statement of need for the test. Specifying a new construct or modifying an old one. Requiring to update the psychometric properties of outdated tests. Creating a test that is more applicable in clinical settings: propose uses and interpretation of results. Decide who will use (administer) the test and why. Include a statement of user qualifications. Conceptual definition: defines construct theoretically. Operational definition: defines the construct based on the exact methods that will be used to measure it. Consider measures of dissimulation whether they are needed and what kind if so. E. g. , effort testing is recommended for forensic testing applications. Symptom validity: accuracy of examinee"s behavioural presentation, sr symptoms, or performance. Response bias: attempt to mislead examiner by responding inaccurately or not putting in effort. Effort: performance at maximum capacity. Malingering: intentionally exaggerating symptoms due to some external incentive. Dissimulation: intentional misrepresentation of symptoms.
