Document Summary

Social exchange theory is the evaluation of situations by assessing the cost and benefits of doing something. We help those who have helped us because otherwise we would feel like shit if we don"t and we don"t want that. There are social norms which tell people how to act in certain situations. An old lady drops her purse and you pick it up for her so she doesn"t fuck up her back. In the end you feel like you did something good so you will feel good. To aid us in survival helping friends so they can help us and helping our offspring"s so they can pass on our genes. Inclusive fitness- offspring"s and reciprocal altruism- helping friends so they can help us. When someone else is helping we would join in to assist them. Or when the person that needs help is similar to us, helping another university.
