Designs for experimental studies: control treatments, blocking: for confounding v"s that we"re not interested in but could affect our outcome, multiple factors : looking at multiple factors so we can look at outcome in diff combos of treatments. Reason it"s imp to identify pop it"s what the stat inference is about. So when we are going to connect our q to study design to stat inference, we need to make sure it"s all focused on the correct pop. Stat pop is what you"re going to be sampling. There can be more than 1 pop depending on study design. Pop is group of observation units with non 0 probability of being in your sample. Definition of pop includes fact that you don"t have access to certain sampling units.
