Document Summary
Explain the physiological basis of the stress response. Explain how personality factors can influence the effects of stress on the development of physical and psychological disease. Describe how stress affects the immune system and contributes to the development of diseases. Identify the source of daily stress, describing some effective strategies for dealing with stress. Many behaviours and mental processes are the result of evolution - actions, tendencies, and genes may enhance survival and continuation of a species. Genes associated with such actions are passed down to offspring, as are the actions and behaviours that are associated with them. Our reflexes are able to provide instant survival reactions in some circumstances. When stimulated, our boy can go to a heightened state where adrenaline begins to flow more quickly and our body goes on alert. Senses begin to quickly gather information to determine the extent of the danger and possible solutions to promote survival; both social and physical.
