Epidemology- study of patterns, causes, and effects of various health related features in a population it works with risks (agents that are possible risks) and individuals with different attributes and how they interact with the risks. Lalonde report--> stated that health care and public health systems are not the only way to enhance health but rather economic progression. Achieving health for all: to reduce inequities in health between high and low income. Personal health practices and coping skills: healthy child development. Biology and genetic endowment: health services, gender, culture. Health inequalities arise from conditions where we have no control over; whereas health inequities (injustices) are those that could have been controlled. Ex) inequality to not have the right machine to detect a diseas, inequity if the mother simply cannot make it to the machine due to location. Individual level --> the biomedical model of agent and host.
