Most core countries have slowed or stopped population growth while in peripheral countries the population continues to grow (demographic transition) Draw a wide array of data sources to assess the geography of populations. Main source is a census; others will be vital records and public health statistics. Same questions as other population experts but find out more on the why of the where . The work of the geographers studying the interactions between population, health and environment shows us that the principal explanation for varying spatial patterns of health is variation in income distribution. Birth and death are examined in simple or complex ways, the reasons for these variables are as important as the numbers themselves (why and where they are occuring) Movement is a force that pushes populations from one locations to a next, resulting in new settlement patterns. Population migration may not always be a matter of choice.
