Additional conflict of interest issues arise if the sme is family owned such as issues with human resources functions, such as hiring, firing, and succession planning. Family-owned businesses often get a bad reputation for things such as preferential treatment, governance problems, and feuding. Study found that family-owned firms respond more to institutional pressures than large publicly traded organizations.
