Her engagement w ethical issues is more of a disffuse treatment rather than a philosophical probing. Influenced by religion and written word: grew up seeing her dad and brother granted more authority. She excelled in her studies and attended stanford: although extremely academic, she wanted her work to be accessible. The feminist project set out to challenge oppression and is an ethical project: need to aim for diff norms and values, a new ethical theory. Included as an addition not core organizing principle: first feminist interventions in then a male dominated field of ethics, challenges the principles and universality of mainstream ethics. Most agree race is a socially constructed category which serves to structure contemporary life. Minority does not refer to sheer numbers as it does share of power and resources: therefore many assumptions made in mainstream ethics have to be reconsidered, can"t talk about one thing without talking about another.
