SOCIOL 3H06 Chapter Notes - Chapter 5: Standard Deviation, Normal Distribution, Unimodality
Document Summary
Addition rule: the probability of obtaining any one of several different outcomes equals the sum of their separate probabilities. Area under the normal curve: that area that lies between the curve and the baseline containing 100% or all of the cases in any given normal distribution. Converse rule: the probability of an event not occurring equals 1 minus the probability that it does. Normal curve: a smooth, symmetrical distribution that is bell-shaped and unimodal. Probability: the relative frequency of occurrence of an event or outcome. The number of times any given event could occur out of 100.
