Genesis 13 starts with abram coming back to canaan, back to bethel after accumulating a lot of wealth in egypt. He had been moving around with his nephew lot who also owned a significant amount of livestock and possessions. A(cid:271)(cid:396)a(cid:373) a(cid:374)d lot de(cid:272)ided to separate and go their separate ways. Lot chose to go to the larger and more fertile plain of the. God gave abram a promise that he would give him and his descendants all the land of canaan. The next few chapters tells us of a battle between the king of sodom and the surrounding regions, who defeated the king of sodom and took away all its possessions and goods, including lot and his family. Abram hears of this and alongside his servants, goes to rescue lot. He gives back sodom all its stolen goods.
