Impedes conflict resolution because you see the other side of the argument as biased while you think you are the one with clarity. Unlike philosophy, it uses empirical data in order to make statements. Folk wisdom / common sense is used by the media to explain social psychological phenomenon"s; they are almost always incorrect. We do no learn from our mistakes / disillusions that common sense explains human behaviour repeated suicidal cults.
