Basic research methodology; methods of data collection. Observational research; watching someone behave in a natural situations and do not interfere too much. Field observational studies; ex: go to a playground and observe the behaviour of the children there, for example study gender if it is associated with aggression. Cant say that x causes y causal statements = no correlation does not mean causation, you just say these two variables are correlated, but does not mean it causes it! Quasi experiment ( in lab or eld) you collect here depends on the level of the independent variable the children were assigned to; *random assignment not possible on at least one variable *no causation! depends on the iv) Random assignment (all have a equal chance to get the reward vs not and equalizes groups) (*need same groups so we know its because of iv not because it was different to start**)
