Evolutionary psychology is the pursuit of psychological science with explicit attention to contemporary knowledge and theory about the evolutionary processes. It is treated as a branch of biological evolution. Experiment: recruited a bunch of males and gave them a specific soap to shower in, and a t-shirt to wear for two consecutive nights. The males were told to bag this t-shirt. Females were also recruited to smell the bagged t-shirts and rate their intensity and pleasantness. Human leukocyte antigen (hla) group (mhc (cid:8211) major histocompatibility complex). This group of genes play a role in immune function and affect body odours in mice and mammals. The females rated the male(cid:8217)s odour shirts while taking an oral contraceptive. They discovered that females taking the pill rated genetically dissimilar males as more pleasant while females not taking the pill rated the opposite. Why use contraceptives: women(cid:8217)s choice of mate can be influenced by male(cid:8217)s odour.
