The science of psychology emerges: wundt and structuralism. Section 1: the scientific approach to psychology i. Section 2: the scientific approach to psychology ii: through use of the steps of the scientific method we can both formulate theories and generalize theories to phenomena. Section 1: orienting, habituation and sensitization: orienting response an automatic shift of attention toward a stimulus or event. Section 3: complexities in reinforcement: the reinforcement of behaviour through instrumental conditioning is marked by a number of complexities and factors that when manipulated slightly, can change the behaviour of individuals in different ways. Differences in grammatical rules between languages are common: includes gender assignment, the order of types of words and so on, commonly automatically understood although difficult to describe, semantics meaning of the word. Semantic can also refer to the fact that we are able to understand different meanings for a word depending on the context in which it is presented.
