The adaptions serve identifiable functions in the life of the individual e. g. they might enable organism to interact with a complex physical environment. E. g. eyes enable you to respond effectively to things around you be detecting and analyzing the reflected light. Racoons have goods night vision but their front paws have adapted to be so sensitive they can practically see through them, bats have adapted to have echo location.
