The only consolation is that the canadian executive is not elected, it"s appointed. Some people would argue that this is less democratic, but it is evident from the situation in the us at the moment, that the canadian system is more effective than the us system. Surely if canada"s intent was really to stick with the uk system, they would have a unitary government also. I understand that as all of the provinces are innately different and that they sometimes require different rules and laws. However, in the beginning, ottawa was carrying the majority of government functions. Surely a unitary government would have been a more natural progression.
