Amy allen: power and the politics of difference: Iris marion young analyzed justice by first defining injustice. Critiqued existing accounts of justice and revealed them as inadequate: Lack of attention to extant in justices that results in their inability to successfully envision how such justices can be ameliorated. Allen argues that young"s account of power remains incomplete in at least two ways: Equates the term "power" with notions of "domination" or "oppression", thus missing an analysis of other, more positive or enabling modes of power such as individual and collective judgement. Mentions these concepts briefly, but without considering how they might be integrated into a broader conceptualization of power. Argues that modes of power --oppression, domination, and individual/collective empowerment-- cannot be properly understood in isolation from one another. A broader conceptualization of justice would include how injustice can be fought and eventually overcome.
