Many theater trends are still used today: darkened room, larger distance, orchestra pit, not allowed to applaud. Aimed at creating the illusion that the audience was not sitting in a theater. Modern theatre established just before the beginning of film. Auteur a filmmaker whose personal influence and artistic control over a movie are so great that the filmmaker is regarded as the author of the movie.
