The first rebellious uprisings against reganomics broke out in america"s post offices in the mid-1980s. Patrick sherrill, a man employed at the local post office for 18 months, went postal" and methodically shot a number of his coworkers and employers p. 68. This was one of the third largest mass murder sprees in american history, which killed 15 postal employees and injured another 6 p. 70. Although it wasn"t the first post office massacre (there were four smaller attacks from 1983-1985) it was one that burned itself into america"s conscience. The murderer was lonely, lower-middle class, stuck in the flat middle of middle. Viewed as different" by those around him p. 71.
