Factors associated with the risk of falls of nursing home residents over 80. Falls are one of the major and costliest public health problems worldwide (mortality and morbidity) 30% older adults fall once a year, 43% in a nursing home, 50% over age 80. Health related quality of life is reduced in this populaion. Reduced strength is the most common cause of falls among residents. Reduced mobility, poor balance, lower limb power all related to risk of falls which lead to poor. Study for risk of fall and lower limb muscle performance, movement speed, funcional status and. Aim was to study the inluences of these parameters on fall risk as assessed with the ime up and go task in 80-year-old residents. 52 paricipants, excluded if they had a cogniive/funcional disorder, comorbidiies. Controlled for age, gender, years in nursing home, health condiions and medicaions and body dimensions, body fast.
