Scientific depends on testing and verification, quackery is more about the naturals. Medicine attends to details of proof, fads cater to the notion that americans had a right to pursue happiness all at once. Physical culture had an impact on society, and vice versa. Science soon become impossible, therefore quackery was merely a state of mind. Atkinson: put immigrants on a bland diet, which would produce deficiencies. Posture: support from federal agencies and ama (american medical association, bad posture led to backache, vomiting, constipation, heart disease, mental impairment, moral weakness and cultural decline. Ils and ailments could be remedied by sitting and standing properly. Physical faith is only made to appear false when its tenets are taken out of context.
