Civilian noninstitutional (adult population): all civilians 15 years , excludes those in prison, in mental facilities, or in homes for the aged, also excludes those in the military. Labour force (lf): people in the adult pop. who are either working or looking for work. Unemployed: people who do not have a job but want one and have looked for work at least once during the preceding four weeks. Unemployment rate: the % of those in the labour who are unemployed. Unemployment rate = # of unemployed / # in labour force. Discouraged workers: dropped out of the labour force and do not count as unemployed.
