Document Summary
Learning how to learn: social learning theory suggests that learning a new behavior is a result of three factors: the person, the environment, and the behaviour, reciprocal determinism: all three factors have mutual influence over each other, can learn through observation and modeling of behaviours of others, ex. do not have to actually touch stove and have it burn you to know not to touch it, can teach people the rules/skills needed to be a manager, challenge is to actually use the skills, critical components required to learn through observation, attention: will not learn as well if are unfocused, nervous or distracted by other things, retention: must be able to understand and remember when you have observed, reproduction: more likely to acquire a skill if can actually reproduce skill we want to learn in context where it will be applied, motivation: will not successfully acquire a new skill unless are motivated to persist and stay with it.
