Society: the body of institutions and relationships within which people live, the conditions in which such relationships are formed. Folk culture?: a particular way of life (knowledge, beliefs, law, customs) Media: allows us to share in tend understand society and culture. Not all positive there is negative connotations to the stereotypes that represent. Politics the process through which people make collective decisions, often preceded by public discussion. As audience members, we are exposed to ideas, perspectives, and the way of thinking about and understanding the world. Media encourages that view of the world reflecting consumer culture. Harold innis and marshall mcluhan first scholars to bring attention to the idea that the ways in which people communicate might actually shape a society and its culture. Oral communication maintains culture over time (time bias) Written communication maintains culture over space (space bias) One of the first analysts of electronic communication.
