Abiotic factors: density independent factors (temperature, floods) increases. Possible to have birth rate density dependent, while dearth rate is independent or vice versa o. Ex mortality rate during cold periods may be higher if density is higher; lower density allows individuals to find sheltered sites. Environment and birth and death among galapagos finches. Peter boag: studied medium ground finches on the daphne major island. ~10 years => 300 then rainfall 10x average => 1100 (abundance of food)
