Iv self-defeating, use of humor for undue self-disparagement. The first 2 styles embody constructive and healthy uses of humor while the last 2 styles involve unhealthy uses of humor that distance the individual from others. How are abnormal behavior patterns classified: we can use the dsm which is compatible with the icd. In the dsm, abnormal behaviors are classified as mental disorders involving either emotional distress, significantly impaired functioning or behavior that places people at risk for personal suffering or death. The dsm and models of abnormal behavior: the dsm system treats abnormal behaviors as signs or symptoms of underlying disorders or pathologies.
