In a study, half of the children were given the test under enhanced rapport while the other half were given the test in a neutral condition. The rapport had little effect on the scores of the younger children in the 3rd grade. Furthermore, familiarity accounted for 7. 6 iq points when the children were from low ses. Examiner effects tend to increase when examiners are given more discretion about the use of the tests. When the examiners were para-professionals instead of psychologists, white examiners obtained higher scores from white than from afro children but scores for both sets of children were comparable when the examiner was afro himself. Typical scid users are licensed psychiatrists or psychologists with additional training on the test. Students need 10 practice sessions to gain competence with the wais-r. In one study, expectancy information was given to men and women who were leaders with regard to men and women who were subjects.
