Distinctions between 3 distinctive components of emotion: Eg. during panic attack individuals think im going to die . Behavioural= behavioural responses which tend to be consequences of certain emotions. Eg. greg experiences a panic attack and may feel compelled to leave the situation. These 3 components are highly interrelated and each affects the two. Theoretical distinctions between anxiety, fear and panic: Anxiety= affective state where an individual feels threatened by the potential occurrence of a future negative event. Future oriented fear= occurs in response to a real or perceived current threat. Fear involves reacting to something believed to be threatening at the present moment. Elicits fight or flight response flee or stand and fight. Associated with physiological symptoms like fear, inc heart rate, muscle tensions, etc. Panic= similar to fear, but panic is an extreme fear reaction triggered even though there is nothing to be scared of. Whereas fear is an emotional response to an objective, current and identifiable threat.
