In the first year of life, the infant could suddenly stops breathing. The actual causes are unknown, but the risk increases: in low ses, if baby was put to sleep on side or belly, and if mother smoked during pregnancy. Thanatophobia (anxiety (higher in females, no age difference, no religion changes, higher for ppl with physical problems) Consider any situation avoided because of fear of death. If these are situations others would face, make a plan of graded exposure. Practice dealing with first person accounts of someone who is coming toward their own death. Good death = free from avoidable suffering for self and family, and in accordance to own wishes. Good death inventory = free from being a burden + spiritual/phys comfort. Many doctors ignore patient"s wishes of discontinuing extraordinary life support and needlessly prolong pain. It goes against their do no harm oath.
