Instrumental aggression: behaviour intended to harm another in the service of motives other than pure hostility (such as attracting attention, acquiring wealth, or advancing political or ideological causes) Situations give rise to or release people"s aggression tendencies. Higher than normal temperatures are associated with increased aggression: climate change - as earth"s temperature raises we may see increased likelihood of civil con ict. Attributional processes - people are aroused by the heat and attribute the arousal towards a particular person or event, eliciting ampli ed feelings of anger and thus aggression. Exposure to media violence increases aggressive behaviour. Copycat violence - when violence on tv is copied in real life: ex. shooting in movie taxi driver vs. shooting in real life of president reagan.
