Sometimes common sense is wrong, that"s why we need to research (scientific knowledge) about good answer. Difference btwn is that common sense is straight and in research there are more greys nuances. 2/3 will obey in authority figure who orders them to hurt a stranger (milgram) Challenges in human behavior: complex, often misunderstood and often unconscious. (e. g. why did you fall in love with your partner?) Most of the time is similarity (same values) and proximity (close in space, environment). Carry some research, report on it, replicate, refine, add to knowledge of social psych, make theories and keep going . Hindsight bias: people"s tendency to be overconfident about whether they could have predicted a given outcome. Hindsight bias can be avoided by first predicating the results of a test/study and then finding out the results. Tendency to assume that the findings in social psychology are obvious, however this only often true in hindsight, not in foresight.
