The study should involve a deductive process of counting and statistical analysis (using a set of premises to draw conclusions) Inductive method of non-numerical interpretations(forming conclusions from empirical evidence) *previous generations believed that these methods/traditions were incommensurable. With advent of technology, quantitative methods became to dominate the discipline and overshadowed qualitative methods. Quantitative: understands political life through the study of a large quantity, or number of cases. Case: single unit - individuals, legislatures, organizations, nation-states, court numbers. Structure: ask questions on his or her polling sheet. Learn about politics through a more thorough study of a small number of cases. This way both ways complement each other.
