Reading note - thomas mappes & howard klepper. Differentiation between means and ends his determination for what is morally unjust. The means or ends is determined by the intention. Further, the denial of one"s own personhood through participation in the objectification of oneself where the intention is known is equally liable to being immoral (298) Klepper, it must be appreciated that morality is uniform, not relative as is law. Therefore, there is always a degree of moral responsibility for using another as means even if the laws one"s culture may permit it, as the act is not morally legitimized by the contract of consent . (294) The conclusion drawn by mappes that one is exempt from being used as a sexual means, objectified, or otherwise exploited if they are also free from acting under the influences of coercion and deceit.
