Abdominal cavity: space bounded by vertebrae, abdo muscle, and pelvic floor. Stomach, small & large intestine, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, spleen, appendix, kidneys, ureters, bladder, lymph nodes. Right upper: liver, gb, duodenum, head of pancreas, right adrenal gland, portions of ascending & transverse colon. Right lower: cecum, appendix, portion of ascending colon, bladder, ovary, uterus, right ureter. Left upper: left lobe of liver, spleen, stomach, body of pancreas, portion of left kidney, portions of transverse & descending colon. Left lower: sigmoid colon, portion of descending colon, bladder, ovary, uterus, left ureter. Supine, pt comfortable as possible with abdo exposed, urinate prn, stand light* Symmetry, skin & pigmentation/color is uniform (masses or nodules, hernia) Pigmentation and color (smooth & homogenous), without redness(inflammation) or jaundice. No scars (ask for scars, possible underlying adhesion and excess fibrous tissue) Nevi mole, brown normal (no change in mole), no petechiae, angiomas (spider nevi), lesions, rash or veins (may be visible in thin pt)
