So the natural tool to turn to is propositional logic : we will now do a quick review of propositional logic. In the next chapter, we will apply it to simple clauses in english: arguments. Logic and linguistics have many terms in common. The notation that we use for the expressions of propositional logic to correspond to the formation rules we have seen. Then, there is the question of assigning values . Today (oct 16) we will talk about notation . There are 100s/1000s of textbooks on logic - each one has their own approach. They all say essentially the same thing but say it in a slightly different way.
