Experienced antisemitism w/in army-- jew count --census to determine whether jews were dodging draft (and thus preventing quick victory), never published bc showed that jews were not. German/austrian armies purported themselves 2 b liberators, tho jews were skeptical. Small number of prominent jews were anti-war. Jews sppted war effort, but w some apprehensions--had german/russian roots. This gave cause for anti-jewish violence and claims of disloyalty.
