After the defeat of the spartacus army, ciero went to a roman court to prosecute gaius. Verres in order to get compensation for thefts for sicilians while he was the governor of their island. The court said that the outcome was hopeless and verres went into voluntary exile in. Verres groomed innocent virgins, fiddled taxes and profiteered from the corn supply. Heius was a collector of greek sculptors and one day verres showed up and forced him to sell the sculptures for a very low price. Verres had gavius thrown into prison, tortured and crucified on the suspicious that he was a spy for spartacus. Roman citizenship should have protected him from being punished. Said that he was guilty enough of the charges laid against him in order to exile himself. Gaius blamed military defeats on the corruption of rome"s commanders and was always open to a bribe.
