System related challenges: i. e. , lack of self-management programs, access problems, child care, transportation, and poor communication with doctors. Patients should be ready to change: patients should start living healthier lifestyles such as exercising more, drinking less alcohol, eating healthy, etc. To do this, patients need to have conviction (knowing that the change is important) and confidence (believing that they can change)
