Business intelligence: is the subset of data and information that actually has some explanatory power enabling effective managerial decisions to be made. e. Useful data becomes information and help a business manager make decision, and can also become intelligence. Four characteristics help determine how useful data may be: relevance, quality, timeliness, and completeness: relevance: a characteristic of data reflecting how relevant these particular facts are to the situation at hand. Relevant data are facts about things that can be changes, and if they are changed, it will materially after the situation: quality: data quality is the degree to which data presents the true situation. High quality data are accurate, valid, and reliable.
