Emotion management: involves people obeying feeling rules and responding appropriately to situations, individuals work to bring their feelings in line with culturally shared emotional norms. Symbolic interaction theory and social interaction: people interact to learn new values to express and manage their emotions by taking the role of others to develop our own self identity. Techniques used by people to appear having an impression a diligent impression on us. Give impression that role is not your true self. The social context of language: facial expressions, gestures and body language, manipulation of space - can vary but can be a way of communicating through social status. Manipulation of space: intimate zone - close physical contact eg: parent & child, partners, personal zone, social zone. Status cues: visual indicators of a person"s social position.
