Introspective method: introspection is an analysis of internal thoughts and images, including dreams. Sigmund freud: undoubtedly one of the most famous people of the twentieth century: his provocative views promoted a great deal of interest in psychology in general, and clinical psychology and developmental psychology in particular. The psyche reflects the dynamic interplay of factors inside the self that are amenable to introspection. Freud emphasized most of personality resides in the unconscious and is not. Personality development, for freud, reflects early life experiences in the conscious family context. Id: the primitive and least rational part of our selves: present at birth, driven by biological urges involving the need for food, water, sex, etc, the reservoir for the libido. Pleasure principle: the id works according to the pleasure principle: it only seeks pleasure and immediate gratification without concern of the possible consequences for inappropriate thoughts and actions.
