Most consistent: hand preference and fraternal birth order gay men are more frequently left handed, 34% greater chance of being left handed, greater number of older brothers a male has, the more likely he will identify as gay only if they are right handed, gay males without older brothers is more likely to be left. 6 stages: identity confusion labels their emotions or behaviours as homosexual, identity comparison feelings of social alienation, identity tolerance moves closer to identifying as gay or lesbian, identity acceptance accepts and explores, identity pride absorbed into the gay or lesbian community, identity synthesis becomes integrated with his or her other identities. Gay men: their desire for and achievement of equality in their relationships, high value placed on emotional intimacy, attachment styles, ability to resolve conflict, high levels of self esteem, relationship satisfaction does not depend on monogamy.
