The land is the focus of many of the covenantal provenances in the bible. For jews, the temple can only be built in jerusalem, the capital city established by king david. Many of the torah commandments are only applicable in the land and jews have always expressed longing for the land whenever and wherever they were in exile from it. Abraham & sara take us back to 1800bc.
