Self-evals that depend on meeting standards of performance, approval or acceptance in order to be maintained. Only feel good if able to meet those standards (se constantly on the line) They believe that few ppl have truly non-contingent self-e. Ppl differ w regard to the life domains upon which they stake their feelings of self-worth. Drops in se that result from failures in contingent domains are often greater in magnitude than boosts that result from successes so failures.
